Hi everyone Razz

My question is about enterprise manager in Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1.0).

Why does Enterprise Manager seem to misreport facts about a database? IS it because EM is limited in the SQL it generates to show information?

Pertinent points: I have noticed that when looking through enterprise manager that all the facts about a database that appear there, are not always totally true. As an example;

1) I was asked to recover a table that had been dropped; in Enterprise Manager, the table did not appear in recyclebin, or as an active table, anywhere in the schemas. On checking a data pump export though, the table appeared as in the previous nights backup.
2) An rman job that is running, and failing nightly, does not appear in any of the 'manage current backups', or administration tab 'jobs' or 'schedules'.

I want to resolve what EM really displays as so that I can know what the facts are that I'm looking at in it.

Thanks, DW
