Hi

I havr installed the Oracle 8i DB in my Laptop. The DB will start up and running once i bootup my machine.
I do not use the DB regulary and i dont want my machine to start the DB automatically, I want to start my DB up manually. how do i do it.
Start the DB manually and Shutdown the DB manually.
Can anyone please help me.

Might the answer be Operating System (OS) specific?
Why did you not share with us the name & version of your OS?
Do you know anything more about your laptop than how to turn it on?
Did you try to use GOOGLE or online help to find your own answer?

if the os on ur laptap is windows then make starttype of oracle services manual.oracle will not start automatically.
